In an era where AI dominates global conversations and headlines, the real challenge for organizations isn’t just adopting the technology — it’s embedding it meaningfully across every level of the enterprise.
As someone who started my journey 25 years ago as a Computer Systems and Network Engineer, I’ve seen technology evolve in waves — from desktop networks to cloud, from automation to artificial intelligence. Today, I lead AI, automation, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives for one of the most forward-thinking business groups in the Gulf. And here’s what I’ve learned:
Innovation must be inclusive. Transformation must be collective.
The Rise of AI: Beyond the Buzzwords
Let’s be clear — AI is not magic. It’s a tool.
Just like the calculator revolutionized workplaces decades ago, AI today has the same role: to simplify, to amplify, and to make work more meaningful. The real power of AI lies not in hype or complexity, but in its accessibility — when anyone, regardless of background or education, can use it to solve problems, learn faster, or serve better.
In our organization, AI is no longer confined to the IT team or analysts. Our frontline workers — including technicians, drivers, and field teams — are now using mobile AI tools like ChatGPT to:
- Translate technical documents
- Learn new equipment features
- Communicate in multiple languages
- Diagnose issues in real time
This shift is not accidental. It’s intentional. Because true innovation only happens when everyone is part of the equation.
Automation Isn’t the Destination — It’s the Enabler
There’s a misconception that automation replaces people. In reality, automation frees people — from repetitive, manual tasks so they can focus on judgment, creativity, and human connection.
In our AI & Automation programs, we’ve implemented:
- Intelligent workflows
- Automated reporting
- Smart assistants
- Customer service enhancements
And we’ve seen firsthand how even simple automation creates ripple effects: reduced friction, faster responses, fewer errors, and happier teams.
But automation by itself isn’t enough.
It must be paired with innovation thinking — a mindset that encourages experimentation, feedback, and continuous improvement. That’s where our focus on change management comes in.
Digital Transformation Starts with People
Digital transformation is not just about switching systems or tools. It’s about transforming how people think, decide, and act.
Here’s the reality:
If your transformation strategy only involves “computer users” and senior managers — you’ve missed the mark. You’re only upgrading the surface.
To transform an organization, you must innovate it as a whole.
That includes everyone — from the CEO to the technician, from finance to fleet, from HR to housekeeping. Because the moment every individual begins to see technology as an ally, not an obstacle — transformation becomes unstoppable.
The AI Month Experience: Training for Impact
Recently, as part of our AI Month (July 2025), I led a special initiative to train our technical teams on AI tools. But it wasn’t just about using ChatGPT or translation apps.

It was about demystifying AI: explaining how self-driving cars work, what the Fourth Industrial Revolution means, and how AI-powered robots are changing industries. More importantly, our technicians themselves shared ideas on how AI could solve real-world problems in the field.
This reaffirmed my belief: innovation lives everywhere — we just need to unlock it.
The Road Ahead: AI + Change Management = Scalable Innovation
As we move into a future dominated by AI, change management becomes a critical competency. It’s not enough to launch new platforms or technologies — we need structured, human-centered approaches to:
- Shift mindsets
- Overcome resistance
- Build habits
- Sustain transformation
This is especially vital in regions like the Gulf, where the pace of digitalization is accelerating. Whether in Oman, UAE, or Saudi Arabia — the success of AI and automation relies not only on the tools we implement, but on the cultures we cultivate.
Final Thoughts
The search interest in AI, automation, and innovation has surged globally, and especially in emerging economies. But digital transformation will only succeed when led by people who believe in its purpose, design it for impact, and scale it through inclusive leadership.
Let’s stop asking if our organization is “ready” for AI.
Let’s ask: Have we prepared our people?
Because when everyone can use technology to solve problems, serve better, and grow — we’re not just transforming businesses. We’re transforming lives.
